A La Carte Services

SAVE MONEY WITH A LA CARTE LAWYERING

PAY FOR ONLY THE SERVICES YOU NEED

The Missouri Bar Association now allows Attorneys to provide what is called “limited scope representation”. Traditionally, if you hired a Lawyer then they completed or supervised every activity on a single case. This is still very necessary in some circumstances, particularly when the parties are at odds and a trial could be necessary.

However, we are in an age where information is readily available. Consumers are more intelligent than ever and capable of handling more and more of simple legal matters. This has given rise to A La Carte Lawyering.

If you have a legal matter or issue and are capable of handling a certain portion of it, but still want legal assistance, then you can hire a Lawyer for the specific service that you need. It’s no longer necessary to hand over your entire case and pay all of the associated legal fees. You have the option of tailoring the lawyer’s services to your needs, resulting in lower fees.

So what kind of cases and situations could this work in?

NON-CONTESTED MATTERS

If you need a divorce or modification involving your children and you and your ex are in complete agreement over the terms.

LEGAL OPINION/ASSESSMENT

If you need a legal opinion or assessment of a problem or course of action, you can contract for only that service. For instance, you want to know if your new landscaping drainage plans will impede upon your neighbor's property rights?

SMALL CLAIMS

You are allowed to represent yourself in small claims. But what if you need help drafting your paperwork or prepping your legal argument for trial?

NEGOTIATING

Do you want to resolve a problem but aren't ready to commit to the full lawsuit process? Having an experienced lawyer to negotiate informally could resolve your matter without paying for Court.

DRAFTING LEGAL FORMS

Need a customized form and legal zoom doesn't cut it for you? Have an attorney draft your Living Will, Simple Will, Name Change, Power of Attorney, and other legal forms for personal use.

COACHING ON COURT PROCESS

Are you a DIY'er set on handling your own case? Maybe it's a low value or small matter and you don't feel like full representation is necessary. You can still hire an Attorney to coach you through courtroom etiquette and procedure.
